Gurnee, IL – The Gurnee Police Department concluded a 9 month investigation into two burglaries that occurred at Harbor Coin of Gurnee, located at 5250 Route 132, on January 28th and March 13th where several thousand dollars worth of collectable coins and currency were stolen.
On 09/28/13, Officers from the Gurnee Police executed a search warrant in the 1100 block of Tulip Tree Lane in Lake Villa and recovered approximately $130,000 worth of collectable coins, currency and stolen jewelry. The homeowner, Martha Paulson, was taken into custody during the search warrant. She was charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Burglary Tools, all felonies.
Two additional search warrants were executed on this residence on September 5th and October 11th in which approximately $17,000 worth of collectable coins and three stolen firearms were recovered.
Officers investigating the case had determined that the firearms and several thousand dollars in coins were stolen from Antique Coffee in Elk Grove Village in November 2012 and several thousand dollars in coins and jewelry were stolen from The Collector’s Gallery in Tinley Park in August 2012. The police department continues their effort to locate other possible victims.
On 10/18/13 two additional arrest warrants were issued for Michael Paulson of Lake Villa and Robert Boardman of Chicago in relation to this case. Paulson was charged with Theft over $100,000, two counts of Burglary, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Unlawful Possession of Burglary Tools, all felonies. Boardman was charged with Theft over $100,000, and two counts of Burglary, all felonies. Both Paulson and Boardman are currently sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.
