Gurnee, IL—The Gurnee Police Department conducted enhanced impaired driving and seatbelt enforcement activities throughout the village from November 18th through December 1st, 2013.
Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these enforcement actions were conducted in order to increase safety restraint compliance and to remove impaired drivers from our roadways.
These eleven deployments were in addition to officers conducting their regular patrol duties. The results of these additional enforcement operations are as follows:
Number of extra hours worked: 51 (all between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM)
Number of officers involved: 6
Number of vehicles stopped: 37
Number of extra details conducted: 11
Number drug/alcohol-related arrests: 5
Number of felony arrests: 1
Number of speeding citations: 8
Number of citations issued: 49
Number of patrol miles driven: 530
