[Gurnee, IL] – The Gurnee Police Department conducts periodic spot checks of businesses within the village that offer retail sales of alcoholic beverages. On January 9, 2013, businesses that hold liquor licenses in Gurnee were checked for underage alcohol sales.
Gurnee detectives accompanied 6 underage volunteers who entered the establishments and attempted to purchase an alcohol product or an alcoholic beverage. Two of the volunteers were 17 years old, two were 18 years old and two were a 19 years old. Four were male and two were female.
A total of 46 businesses were checked and none served alcohol to the minor agent.
“These results show the outstanding commitment Gurnee’s liquor license holders have to keeping alcohol out of the hands of our kids.” Chief Kevin Woodside said.
Alcohol sales compliance checks are conducted on a regular basis. The Gurnee Police Department will continue to conduct spot checks of businesses selling alcoholic beverages to insure that area youth do not have easy access to alcohol products.
