Gurnee, IL—Beginning March 13th and running through March 17th, 2014 the Gurnee Police Department conducted enhanced impaired driving and seat belt enforcement activities throughout the village.
Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these enforcement actions were conducted in order to increase safety restraint compliance and to remove impaired drivers from our roadways.
These six deployments were in addition to officers conducting their regular patrol duties. The results of these additional enforcement operations are as follows:
Number of extra hours worked: 27.5 (all between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM)
Number of officers involved: 4
Number of vehicles stopped: 26
Number of extra details conducted: 6
Number drug/alcohol-related arrests: 3
Number of speeding citations: 11
Number of seat belt citations: 10
Number child restraint citations: 1
Number of citations issued: 28
Number of patrol miles driven: 370
