Gurnee's annual leaf collection program ended Saturday, November 27, 2010.
Collection of landscape waste will resume in April 2011.
Annual Leaf Collection Program
Gurnee's Annual Leaf Collection (Leaf Pickup) Program takes place each fall (specific pickup dates are posted to this page in the fall). Residents are asked to rake leaves to the curb where vacuum trucks will collect them. Waste Management will make six trips throughout the Village to collect leaves. Leaves will be picked up along every street and road within the Village on each trip. Each pass through the Village may take several days. Residents are reminded that once the collection truck makes its final run in your neighborhood, it will not return to collect any additional leaves.

Waste Management will make every effort to collect leaves along each Village roadway every week. However, factors such as weather or large volumes of leaves may slow down collection. The target collection dates are shown on the Leaf Collection Schedule Map.
Due to the limited reach of the vacuum truck, residents are asked to rake leaves as close to the street as possible. When placing the leaves at the curb, please do not block culverts or storm sewer openings. Leaves piled in these areas may create drainage problems in the event of heavy rains or melting snow.
Resident with questions or concerns should call Village Hall at 847-599-7500.
Requirements for the Village of Gurnee Enhanced Leaf Collection Program
Beginning in mid- to late-October each year, the Village of Gurnee offers special collection of leaves from larger lots. The minimum lot size that will qualify for this special collection will be 25,000 square feet (0.57 acres).
The leaf collection services will be performed by members of the Public Works Department. The collection will involve the crew and equipment coming up onto your driveway to vacuum your leaves.
If you choose to participate in this enhanced collection service, you will need to complete, sign and return the program application (in pdf) and waiver regarding damages to your property which can be obtained at the Village Hall. Once the application is completed and returned to the Village. we will verify that your lot meets the minimum requirements and will inspect the areas adjacent to your driveway for obstructions and potential hazards. We will also make a video tape of the driveway and surrounding area as a record of its condition. Once it is verified that your property meets the criteria for service, participants will need to call the Public Works Department at (847) 599-6800 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in order to schedule dates for the collection of your leaves. You will need to have your leaves piled along either side of your driveway within three feet of the edge. The crew will attempt to collect your leaves within three working days of your request. However, work volume and weather conditions may cause delays in the collection process.
Each property owner participating in the Enhanced Leaf Collection Program must agree to hold the Village of Gurnee harmless in the event of any personal injury or property damage associated with providing this service.
Leaves will be collected in this program from the end of October through the end of November.
