MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING OF THE GURNEE VILLAGE BOARD IN
REFERENCE TO THE BUDGET FOR FY'86
GURNEE MUNICIPAL BUILDING
April 29, 1985
The hearing was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Mayor Welton.
Roll call, present: Yost, Kissner, Petropoulos, Smith and Zelenko.

Mr. Trigg began the presentation on the projected revenues for
FY'86, as follows:
General Fund:
Taxes - $2,242,400
Licenses and Permits - $112,200
Intergovernmental Receipts - $727,200
Charges for Services - $57,900
Fines - $73,800
Other Revenue $7,200
Interest Income - $48~100
TOTAL PROJECTED REVENUE - $3,268,800
Expenditure requests were explained by the various department
heads.
Mr. Trigg explained the Administration request in the total amount
of $266,600.00.
Mr. Hayner explained the Building and Zoning requests in the total
amount of $186,500.00. Included i8 a request for a replacement
automobile and major consultant fees for Planning Consultants and a
Traffic Study.
Mr. Klein explained the Engineering Department requests in the
total amount of $228,270.00. Included are requests for two
vehicles.
Mr. Wright explained the amount of $638,270.00. equipment for
sidewalks
Public Works Department request in the total Included is a request
for new snow removal one dump truck and one additional person.
Mr. Wright explained the Vehicle Maintenance Department request in
total amount of $11, 750.00.
Chief Dluhos explained the Police Department request in the total
amount of $994,300.00. Included is a request of new radio equipment
on a fiveyear buy back program, and creation of the position of
Deputy Police Chief.
Chief Dluhos explained the Communications Department request in
the total amount of $167,500.00 which includes an additional request
for uniforms.
Fire Chief Dada explained the Fire Department requests in the
total amount of $837,100.00. Included are requests for a new vehicle
to replace the "Fire Prevention Vehicle" self-contained breathing
apparatus, and continued hose purchases.
Chief Dada added that communications have been made with the
Warren/ Waukegan Fire Protection District on the budget.
Assistant ~ire Chief McGrath added that investigation is being
done for Radio-Telephone ability for two vehicles. Also requested is
to raise the Paid-On-Call salary from $6.50 to $7.00 maximum.
The Municipal building and Grounds budget in the amount of $97,400
was ~resented.
The Sanitary Sewer Operating and Water Operating budgets were
presented as follows

Mr. Wrlgnt aye that the water fund request two water pumps for
replacement and one pavement breaker for a total addition in the
amount of $8,000.00 total.
Mayor Welton reported that he, Mr. Trigg, Jim Hayner and Trustee
Smith could meet this week, if convenient, to consider Employee Wage
Discussions.
Revenue $263,400
Expenditures 163,525
Still to be considered are the Employee Benefit Package and the
Capital Improvement Programs at future Board meetings.
Petropoulos moved, seconded by Zelenko Motion carried.
