Special Winter Weather Announcement: Sunday, January 26th, 6:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for the entire northeastern Illinois region beginning Monday, January 27th at 3 a.m. and continuing until Wednesday, January 29th at 9 a.m. Temperatures are predicted to fall into negative temperatures and remain below zero through Wednesday morning. Wind chills will also be dangerously low during this time. As a result, the following information has been compiled to assist residents during the warning period:
  1. A list of tips for managing extreme cold can be found on the Village's website.
  2. A list of warming centers in Lake County is also available on the Village's website.
  3. Earlier this afternoon, Districts 5056 and 121 and Warren-Newport Public Library announced that they will be closed on Monday, January 27th due to the cold.  For the latest information on closings, visit each government's individual website.
  4. At this time, Waste Management has not announced any alteration in this coming week's collection schedule.  Should a delay be announced, it will be posted on the Village's website and distributed through social media and the Village's e-mail listserv.
