Communications / Social Media Internship

The Village of Gurnee Administration Department / Economic Development Division seeks candidates for a Social Media / Communications Internship.

Employees in this position perform duties related to graphic design; print, web and social content creation and assisting in the management of communications work. This internship opportunity will focus on creating and organizing content that will be used by the Village during the internship period (including a major print newsletter) and through the year following completion of the internship. The internship will also include developing marketing material for the 2018 Legions of Craft Beer Festival. The ideal candidate will learn to write online content and gain experience in project management, design layout, and public relations.

Requires college course work in graphic design, art, journalism, public relations or a related field. Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite or a similar program is required. Website design and video production experience is valuable but not required. The successful candidate must be able to establish and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and work in a fast-paced environment. 

Starting hourly rate of pay is $12.00 / hour.   Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and be at least 18 years of age.  Any offer of employment is contingent on passing a background investigation and drug screen.
