Reserve School Crossing Guard (2019)

Summary:

The Gurnee Police Department is seeking applicants for Reserve School Crossing Guards. This position will perform work on an as needed basis when a regularly assigned Crossing Guard is absent. Work schedule and location will vary.

Requirements:

Work Locations & General Work Hours: 

Old Grand Avenue & O’Plaine Road [near Viking School]:  6:40 A.M. to 7:40 A.M. and 2:15 P.M. to 3:15 P.M.

Route 132 (Grand Avenue) & O’Plaine Road:  6:40 A.M. to 7:40 A.M. and 2:15 P.M. to 3:15 P.M.

O’Plaine Road & Hayner Avenue [near River Trail School]:  6:40 A.M. to 7:40 A.M. and 2:15 P.M. to 3:15 P.M.

Washington Street and Almond Road [Woodland Middle School]:  6:45 A.M. to 7:45 A.M. and 2:10 P.M. to 3:10 P.M

Rate of pay is $15 / hour.  No prior experience is necessary; paid training and equipment is provided. 

Work is performed outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions, including exposure to traffic, rain, wind, snow / ice, hot and cold temperatures.  Vehicular traffic hazards also present in work environment.

Applicants selected for continuation in the process will be subject to an oral interview.  Any offer of employment is contingent on passing a background investigation and drug screen.
