Traffic Safety Technician

Summary:

The Village of Gurnee Police Department seeks candidates for the position of Traffic Safety Technician. Full time position; work is generally performed between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Requirements:

This position is primarily responsible for work involving the administration of the photo enforcement (red light camera) program; operation of the Village’s administrative hearing process; administration of the administrative seizure / penalty program; administration and management of traffic safety grants; public education training on traffic safety topics; and other related job duties.  This position requires a high degree of public interaction and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.  Requires ability to perform job tasks in a confidential manner.

Candidates must have at least 3 years sworn law enforcement experience; LEADS certification (current) or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire; a valid driver’s license and safe driving history.  Other qualifications include community relations experience; knowledge of state laws and other policies related to traffic and law enforcement; intermediate proficiency in Word and Excel, basic knowledge of PowerPoint desirable; basic proficiency in use of database programs.  Unless otherwise indicated, the qualifications listed are guidelines; other experience, which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job, may be considered.

Pay Range:

Hourly rate of pay:  $23+ / hour, depending on qualifications / experience.
