The Gurnee Police Department works closely with Neighborhood Watch groups as part of an effort aimed at safety and crime prevention. The safety restrictions implemented by the pandemic are affecting this and other department programs immensely and limiting our ability to meet in person. As we all adapt to these changes, the police department is discovering new ways to interact with the community through technology by creating educational videos and electronic newsletters for our residents.
We are introducing an electronic Neighborhood Watch newsletter, which provides residents with insightful information about crime prevention and the importance of working together as a community to minimize crime. Our senior community has a dedicated section of the newsletter discussing common scams and how to defend themselves against them. This information is insightful and helpful to anyone who is a senior or may have family members or friends who experience these crimes.
We hope you enjoy the newsletter and thank you for your continued support of this program. If you have any questions, the Crime Prevention Office is available to assist.
Please visit this website in the coming weeks for updates or visit us on Facebook.
Residents may elect to receive email crime and safety alerts from the police department. Please contact the Crime Prevention Unit at 847-599-7080 to sign up. Alternatively, you can email a request to receive alerts by clicking here. Please include your name, home or business address, telephone number, and email address. This service is predominantly available to Village residents and business owners. Requests from persons or entities outside the village will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
