Solicitation in the Village

The Village may not prohibit door to door solicitation from taking place within the Village due to existing Supreme Court rulings. However, the Village can require individual solicitors to obtain permits and set hours during which solicitation may occur. Solicitors may work within the Village between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Signs are available to residents that can be displayed at your residence asking solicitors not to approach your home. "No Solicitors" signs are available at the Village Hall and Police Station.

When dealing with solicitation, it is recommended that you ask to see their permit. If a permit for the Village of Gurnee is not presented, please notify the Police Department as soon as possible. You will be asked to give the dispatcher a description of the solicitor and the location. An officer will then be dispatched to handle the situation.
