Overview - Gurnee Fire Department

The fire department currently protects approximately 60,000 people in a 30 square mile area, with a daytime population in excess of 150,000. Areas protected by the fire department are divided between the Village and Fire Protection District, as well as the City of Park City, Illinois.

Weather & Disaster Preparedness


The Village of Gurnee has established an Emergency Management Agency to coordinate preparedness, relief, response, and recovery activities for all emergency or disaster situations within the Village. The program has an Emergency Management Agency Coordinator, appointed by the Village Administrator with the approval of the Mayor and Village Board, who meets the program standards and requirements as established by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act.

Outdoor Warning Siren System


The Village of Gurnee has installed twelve outdoor warning sirens. These outdoor sirens are located throughout the Village and are capable of sounding both the siren and a voice message. In addition, three more county sirens are also located in the area.


Fire Safety Expo 2011

On Saturday, May 21st from 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., the Gurnee Fire Department will be participating in Fire/Safety Expo 2011, presented by the Lake County Fire Chief's Association. The event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Parking Lot B (between Sears Grand/Bed, Bath & Beyond) at Gurnee Mills.
