A Message from Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik on COVID-19

Hello,

This is Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik with an important message regarding COVID-19. Under Governor Pritzker’s most recent Executive Order, beginning May 1st, all residents over the age of 2 and medically able to tolerate a face covering are encouraged to wear one in public indoor spaces, including all stores you visit. Face coverings may be masks, scarves, or anything that will cover your nose and mouth.

Please do your part in helping keep each other, our seniors, and those with underlying health conditions safe. It also helps keep our health care workers, essential store employees and our first responders safe. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude and this simple safety practice will demonstrate our support and thanks for their selfless service.

Residents in need of help or non-emergency assistance during COVID-19 are encouraged to utilize the United Way’s 211 Lake County. This is a resource for all residents in need of assistance. Lake County residents can dial 2-1-1 or text your zip code to 898211 or access the website at 211LakeCounty.org.

This is an exceedingly difficult time for all of us. The lives of our families, friends and neighbors have been disrupted. This collective sacrifice and hardship are for the health and well-being of our community, county, State and country. I strongly encourage you to continue to follow CDC, IL Dept of Public Health and Lake County Health Department guidelines. And while we are all sheltering in place, myself and Village Staff is available by phone or email to answer questions or concerns. I also want to thank each of you for continuing to practice social distancing and staying home except for essential errands; added measures that helps keep us safe. For more information on the Governor’s recent Executive Order visit the Village of Gurnee website at www.gurnee.il.us.

If you have not signed up for our emergency alerts, you can register for the Blackboard Connect CTY System at: https://11297163.bbcportal.com/

Sincerely,

Kristina Kovarik
