The Village of Gurnee, in partnership with American Legion Post 771, is proud to salute those who honorably serve(d) in the United States Armed Forces. This program is intended to both honor and recognize the men and women from the Village of Gurnee who have served in the US Armed Forces protecting our nation, preserving our democracy and defending the ideals we hold dear. The banners will serve as a living tribute to honor past and present members of the Armed Forces and their family members. The banner will be placed on a light pole on O'Plaine Rd. and will include the service member’s name, image and branch of service. The Village will post banners each year and priority will be given to those currently serving. Nominations will be accepted year round and banners will be displayed just prior to Veteran's Day and during May as part of Military Appreciation Month.
TO NOMINATE A SERVICE MEMBER:
Once the nomination is received, it will undergo review by the Veterans Blue Ribbon Commission for approval. The banner will be retired and returned to the service member’s family.
