At Monday's Village Board Meeting, Mayor Tom Hood, the Veterans Commission and the community recognized Gurnee's Hometown Heroes by presenting them and their families with their distinguished banners!

The program was launched last fall to honor and recognize veterans and service members from the Village of Gurnee who have served in the US Armed Forces or are currently serving, protecting our nation, preserving our democracy and defending the ideals we hold dear. The banners serve as living tributes to honor the past and present members of the Armed Forces. While these banner’s do not recognize every service member from the Village of Gurnee, they do honor and preserve the memory of a few of Gurnee’s Hometown Heroes. The program is expected to run again around Veterans Day later in the year. Once again, the Village of Gurnee thanks all veterans and our Hometown Heroes for their service!
