At Monday night’s Village Board meeting, Mayor Tom Hood presented Gurnee Mills with the Green Gurnee Award – Gold Level. The gold level award, the highest level Green Gurnee Award, recognizes businesses in our community that have taken significant steps to reduce their environmental impact and promote sustainability.

Gurnee Mills has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability by implementing many environmentally friendly practices including utilizing ProMoss - chemical free water treatment with more than 5 million gallons of water saved, installed electric car charging stations, operates battery operated vehicles, has made significant energy efficient facility upgrades, and purchases 30% of recyclable materials corporately.

Gurnee Mills is an excellent example of the kind of responsible business practices that the Village encourages in our community. By recognizing these efforts with the Green Gurnee Award, the Village hopes to inspire other businesses to follow their lead and adopt sustainable practices.
