Grand Avenue / US-41 Temporary Closure - May 18th-21st

The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that they will be demolishing the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge now that the tracks have been switched to the temporary bridge. This demolition project will require the complete shutdown of the Grand Avenue / US-41 intersection to allow the contractors to safely remove the superstructure and substructure. The shutdown is scheduled for Friday, May 18th at 7:00 p.m. with the plan that it would re-open Monday, May 21st at 5:00 a.m. for morning traffic.

The below map highlights the IDOT proposed detour for the duration of the closure. Grand Avenue businesses and homes will still be accessible via Grand Avenue / Green Bay Road, but will be open to local traffic only during the duration of the closure.
