Civil Engineering Internship - Summer 2026

The Engineering Division seeks candidates for a summer Civil Engineering internship. The work schedule is generally 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday but may vary based on construction project schedules. Internship dates - approximately May to August, depending on school schedules.

Rate of pay is $19.00+ / hour depending on qualifications / education level.  

Interns will perform hands on routine and entry level technical civil engineering work.  Work includes conducting field surveys; construction inspections and investigations; collecting data for traffic studies; developing / updating maps; customer service interaction with residents; research, data entry, scanning, filing; and related job tasks and duties.

Requires:  high school / college coursework in general engineering, civil engineering, or closely related curriculum; knowledge of general engineering principles and practices.  Knowledge and experience in computer systems including Microsoft Office, ESRI’s ArcGIS software, and computer aided drafting (CAD) programs is helpful.

Must be at least minimum age 17 by first day of employment and have a valid driver’s license and no moving violations as of date of hire.  Employment is contingent on passing a background check.
