Part Time Resident Services Representative - Village Hall [closed]

Summary:

The Village of Gurnee is seeking a professional, detail-oriented Part-Time Resident Service Representative to provide high-level customer service and administrative support to Village departments and residents.

This position serves as the first point of contact for the public and plays a vital role in ensuring efficient daily operations in a fast-paced municipal environment.  This position is ideal for a proactive, organized professional who enjoys public service and contributing to effective municipal operations.

Work Schedule: This is a part-time in-office, nonexempt position that is scheduled for 25 hours per week. Work hours are Monday through Friday. Employees must select one of the following consistent schedules: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

• Serve as the primary point of contact for residents, visitors, and callers by providing accurate information, answering and routing phone calls, and delivering courteous, professional customer service.
• Perform clerical and administrative support duties including data entry, document creation and proofreading, filing, mail processing, scheduling appointments, and maintaining departmental records, including confidential information.
• Process payments for water bills, business licenses, local taxes, and other accounts receivable; ensure receipts and transactions are balanced accurately.
• Support daily office operations by ordering supplies, preparing public and meeting spaces, managing room reservations, and assisting with special projects and updates to department manuals.
• Maintain a cooperative, efficient workplace environment and perform related duties as assigned.

 

Salary and Benefits:  Anticipated hiring rate for this position is $26.24 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Full salary range for this position is $26.24-$36.91 per hour. 

Retirement benefits through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) and the option to participate in a 457(b) deferred compensation plan through Mission Square. This position accrues one hour of paid time off for every 40 hours worked, to be used as time off. This position is part of the Local 150 Administrative Unit, a union position. 

Education/Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum of one (1) year of clerical or administrative experience; government experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
• Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred but not required
