Civil Engineer I

Position Overview: responsible for preparing plans and cost estimates for roadway, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and other projects as necessary; provide construction management, inspection and field measurement/quantity take-off of on-going projects including the documentation and preparation of reports. This is a professional position responsible for the plan review of public and private projects and initiation, design, and supervision of construction of public improvements.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparing engineering plans, drawings, and specifications
- Perform basic design calculations under supervision
- Support field inspection and collect project data
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and technical reports
- Coordinate with project team members and contractors
Qualifications:
At least 1 year of full time or combined internship experience performing civil engineering work tasks; State of Illinois Engineer Intern License or ability to obtain within 1 year; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering / related curriculum; valid driver’s license.

Salary Information:
Entry Level Civil Engineer - hiring range: $87,771 - $99,841; full salary range $87,771 - $113,593
Work Schedule: Full-time position; 40 hours per week; general work schedule 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Village of Gurnee supports a positive work/life balance.
