Public Works Department
The Public Works Department is made up of the Street, Utility and Fleet Divisions. Combined, the Department is responsible for maintaining public roadways and right-of-ways, the Village fleet and facilities, operating and maintaining the water distribution system and sanitary and storm sewer collection and conveyance systems.

The Village maintains more than 2,500 fire hydrants.

The Village maintains more than 15,000 parkway trees.

The Village’s sanitary sewer system includes 140 miles of sanitary sewer main and eight sanitary sewer pumping stations.

Gurnee maintains 1,675 street lights throughout the community. The remaining 425 lights are maintained by Commonwealth Edison.
